In 2020 it was estimated that 76,300 small and medium sized businesses in London had to close permanently as a result of the first wave of COVID-19[1]. With many surviving businesses still in a precarious position, it will be crucial that they are supported in London’s economic recovery from the pandemic.
Despite significant Government and Mayoral support, many businesses have simply not survived the pandemic. But how will these closures and struggling businesses affect London’s economy?
Tomorrow, at a Plenary meeting of the London Assembly, Members will put questions to guests, on the recovery of London’s economy and businesses from the pandemic.
The guests are:
- Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor for Business
- Amy Lamé, Night Czar
- Luke Bruce, Programme Director, London’s Recovery Programme
- Richard Burge, Chief Executive, London Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The meeting will take place on Thursday, 3 March 2022 from 10:00am in Rooms G02 – G03 – G04, LFB Headquarters, 169 Union Street, London, SE1 0LL.
Following the discussion, London Assembly Members will debate these motions.
Media and members of the public are invited to attend – however numbers may be limited.
The meeting can also be viewed LIVE or later via webcast or YouTube
