Between April and June 2018, 77% of taxi vehicles were compliant. The main reason for non-compliance were a lack of MOTs, vehicle lights and body work issues.[1]
In the same period, 80% of private hire vehicles were found to be compliant with the major cause being vehicle lights not working and no replacement bulbs. [2]
Tomorrow, the London Assembly Transport Committee will be observing a taxi and private hire enforcement operation by Transport for London (TfL) enforcement officers.
Various spokespeople from TfL & the Assembly will be available for interviews.
The site visit will take place on Friday, 14 December from 10:30am. The location is Tate Britain Millbank, Westminster, London SW1P 4RG.
