In response to TfL’s announcement that services on London Overground’s Gospel Oak to Barking line are now exclusively operated by Class 710 electric trains, local London Assembly Member, Jennette Arnold OBE AM, said:
“Beleaguered commuters from across North and East London will feel huge relief at this announcement, having long-suffered with unreliable and overcrowded services on the line.
“These new electric trains, secured in large part due to the efforts of community activists and the Barking-Gospel Oak Rail Users Group, will significantly boost capacity on the line, reduce toxic air output and hopefully ensure a much-improved service for local people.
“Whilst I acknowledge the gesture of good will from Bombardier, offering a month’s free travel does not stretch nearly far enough, considering the extent of the disruption that has been caused to local people over the course of many years”.
