The Mayor of London developed an action plan following concerns about the disproportionate use of police powers, including stop and search, the use of handcuffs, force and Tasers.
The plan focuses on four main areas; better use of police powers, working together to make black communities safer, a police service that better represents and understands black communities and holding the police to account for what they do.
Just over 2 months since the Mayor of London published his action plan to improve trust and confidence in the Met, what progress has been made in achieving its objectives?
Tomorrow, the Police & Crime Committee will question the Met Police and the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime on the Mayor’s action plan.
Other topics to be discussed include:
- Released under investigation
- Court backlog
- Online crime
- Undercover policing
The guests are:
- Sir Stephen House QPM, Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police
- Sophie Linden, Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime
The meeting will take place on Thursday, 14 January from 2pm. In line with government advice, this meeting will take place virtually.
Media and members of the public can watch the meeting live here.
