London now has its first Walking and Cycling Commissioner, working to deliver the Mayor’s pledges to make walking and cycling safer and easier in the capital.
The London Assembly Transport Committee meets tomorrow to question Dr. Will Norman about his new role and how he intends to change the habits of hundreds of thousands of Londoners. Topics will include;
- How the new Walking and Cycling role compares to the old Cycling Commissioner role
- What money is available for walking and cycling
- Why the Quietways project is so far behind schedule
- What progress the Mayor has made on his major pedestrian schemes
- Dealing with conflict and complaints from other road users
- Plans for car-free days
- How to broaden the appeal of the cycle hire scheme to under-represented groups

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 19 April from 2:00pm in The Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
