Food waste accounts for around 20 per cent of household waste each year in London.
It costs London boroughs over £50 million a year to dispose of - and some boroughs have no, or only limited, separate food waste collection.
More than half of London’s housing stock is multi-occupancy and recycling performance for flats is around only 10 per cent.
So how can we improve our domestic food waste collection regimes?
And what about supermarket food waste? Could that go to food banks?
The London Assembly Environment Committee investigates why, compared to other European cities like Berlin and Milan, London performs poorly.
