News from Florence Eshalomi MP (past staff): Florence Eshalomi AM responds to latest child obesity figures

Created on
16 February 2018

In response to Public Health England figures released today, showing that the highest rates of child obesity are concentrated in the capital, Labour London Assembly Member Florence Eshalomi AM for Lambeth and Southwark said:

“These figures offer a shameful dose of reality about the severe health problems that can be caused by social inequalities and poverty in our capital.

“Government cuts have not helped and have let young people down in our community, with less funding available for youth services and activities.

“However, it is positive to see that the Mayor is taking this issue seriously, with his plans to set up a Child Obesity taskforce which aims to tackle this epidemic by 2028.”
