Questions on environmental priorities for the new Deputy Mayor

How do the environmental priorities of Sadiq Khan differ from those of Boris Johnson? And how will the success of those priorities be measured?

The recently appointed Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy, Shirley Rodrigues, will be questioned tomorrow by the London Assembly Environment Committee about key issues requiring attention during this Mayoral term.

The Committee will also explore the energy policy of the Mayor with a second panel of guests.

Environmental challenges and priorities for London: approx. 10:00am-11:15am. The guests are:

  • Shirley Rodrigues, Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy
  • Patrick Feehily, Assistant Director of Environment, GLA

Topics will include: climate change adaptation and the natural environment, managing waste and developing a circular economy.

Mayoral energy policy: approx. 11:15am-12:30pm. The guests are:

  • Shirley Rodrigues, Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy
  • Brooke Flanagan, Principal Policy and Programme Officer, GLA
  • Leonie Greene, Head of External Affairs, Solar Trade Association
  • Emma Bridge, CEO, Community Energy England

Topics will include: energy generation, energy efficiency, fuel poverty, household energy use choices.

The meeting will take place on Thursday 13 October from 10:00am in the Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
