As London emerges from lockdown, the London Assembly Health Committee will question what are the key challenges we face as a city in terms of health.
The Public Health England review outlined the disproportionate impact on BAME communities, so what steps are being taken by the Government and the Mayor to address these issues?
How are NHS and social care staff, many of whom are from a BAME background, being protected from COVID19, mental health issues and burnout?
How can we prevent a second wave of the pandemic and would localised lockdowns within London actually work?
Tomorrow, the Health Committee will discuss all these issues along with the NHS track and trace system and the guests are:
- Professor Kevin Fenton, PHE London Regional Director and Statutory Health Advisor to the Mayor
- Dr Vin Diwakar, NHS Regional Medical Director for London
- Dr Chaand Nagpaul, Chair of the Council, The British Medical Association
- Lisa Elliott, London Regional Director, Royal College of Nursing
- Gavin Edwards, Senior National Officer – Social Care, UNISON
The meeting will take place on Thursday 25 June at 2:00pm.
In line with Government advice, this meeting will take place virtually.
Media and members of the public can watch the meeting live here.
