- How long will a droid wait for a customer to collect its parcel?
Starship Technologies is building a fleet of robots designed to deliver goods locally in 15-45 minutes. The PDDs (personal delivery devices) drive autonomously but are monitored by humans who can take over control at any time.
Starship have developed their delivery robot to be sensitive to pedestrians and other pavement users. They have ongoing engagement with groups such as the Royal National Institute of Blind People and Guide Dogs.
Tomorrow, as part of its Future Transport investigation, the London Assembly Transport Committee will visit Starship Technologies, which is developing small self-driving robotic delivery vehicles (also known as droids).
