Do the Mayor’s budget figures add up?

The Mayor's Budget
Created on
20 November 2018

The GLA - made up of the Mayor and his responsibilities and the London Assembly which scrutinises the mayoral functions - has a total budget of £149 million for 2019-20: £141million for the Mayor and £7.9 million for the London Assembly.

Tomorrow, the London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will discuss the proposed draft GLA budget for 2019-20. The current budget does not consider any additional costs to the GLA arising from a no deal Brexit.

How is the Mayor going to fund his priorities of building houses, cutting air pollution and reducing health inequality? Are there any implications for future support for services vital for Londoners?

The guests are:

  • David Bellamy, Mayor’s Chief of Staff;
  • Mary Harpley, Chief Officer;
  • Sarah Mulley, Executive Director for Communities and Intelligence;
  • Emma Strain, Interim Executive Director for Communities and Intelligence;
  • David Lunts, Executive Director for Housing and Land;
  • Lucy Owen, Interim Executive Director for Development, Enterprise and Environment; and
  • Martin Clarke, Executive Director for Resources.

    The meeting will take place on Wednesday, 21 November from 10am in The Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
  • Media and members of the public are invited to attend
