‘Culture for all Londoners’ and ‘Sport for all of us’ are the culture and sport elements of the Mayor’s draft Culture Strategy.
The draft Strategy also outlines 19 Mayoral policies, with just over 60 Mayoral commitments flowing from them.
Tomorrow, at a full meeting, the London Assembly will question the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, on his draft Culture Strategy. Question areas will include:
- The impact the capital’s culture sector has on Londoners’ quality of life
- How the strategy will affect access to culture for young people and low-income families
- How private investors and charities can improve London’s cultural offer
- How progress and impact will be measured
- London’s ability to retain talents and attract tourists after Brexit
- Why we need a Mayoral Sports Strategy
The following guests will also be questioned:
· Justine Simons OBE, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Creative Industries
· Debbie Weekes-Bernard, Deputy Mayor for Social integration, Social Mobility and Community Engagement
· Shonagh Manson, Assistant Director, Culture and Creative Industries
· Simon Cooper, Sports Manager
After a debate, Members will vote on the strategy, following the question and answer session.
