Crossrail confusion & London Stadium saga

Crossrail tunnel
Created on
05 September 2018

Who exactly is to blame for the delay to Crossrail?

Who knew what, and when? Why has the delay only now been made public?

Is Autumn 2019 a realistic new launch date?

How much revenue will TfL lose and who will pay?

How will the delay affect other National Rail services and business along the route?

The London Assembly wants urgent answers to many important questions on the Crossrail delay. Tomorrow, the Mayor and representatives from Transport for London (TfL) and Crossrail will face Assembly Members during a special to address those issues.

From 10am to approximately 11am, the guests are:

  • Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London
  • Mike Brown, Commissioner, Transport for London
  • Sir Terry Morgan, Chair, Crossrail Ltd
  • Simon Wright, Chief Executive, Crossrail Ltd

The London Stadium is set to make a £20 million loss on day to day operations in 2018.

The Assembly will also hold a question and answer session with the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) tomorrow. Topics for discussion will include:

  • Ensuring mistakes made with the stadium aren’t repeated on the East Bank project
  • Improved transparency standards
  • Why housing delivery has been so far below target
  • Meeting the higher annual housing targets in the new draft London Plan

From approximately 11am to 12pm, the guests are:

  • Lyn Garner, Chief Executive, LLDC
  • Sir Peter Hendy CBE, Chair, LLDC

Following this, Assembly Members will submit motions on various topics.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, 6 September from 10:00am in The Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).

Media and members of the public are invited to attend

The meeting can also be viewed LIVE via webcast or YouTube
