A successful Olympic legacy?

Regeneration Committee

The prospects for people living in the Olympic host boroughs were meant to improve, to ‘converge’, with the London average, over a 20 year period. However, five years on, what progress has been made? The Regeneration Committee report ‘Relighting the torch: securing the Olympic legacy’ looks into the concept of convergence and whether or not local people in east London are really benefitting from the Games.

London & Partners and the Chief Digital Officer

Economy Committee – 10:00am in Committee Room 5

How is London’s economy faring and what can be done to ensure London is showcased to the world successfully? Can a tourism levy benefit London?

The first section of the meeting will focus on the work of London & Partners and the guests are:

  • Rajesh Agrawal, Deputy Mayor for Business, Deputy Chair of the London Economic Action Partnership (LEAP) and Chairman of London and Partners
  • Andrew Cooke, Chief Operations Officer, London and Partners



In the second section of the meeting the Economy Committee will question London’s first Chief Digital Officer, Theo Blackwell. Topics for discussion will include the Chief Digital Officer’s main priorities and ambitions, cyber security, smart data and digital inclusion.

Transport Committee – 10:00am in The Chamber

The Transport Committee follows up progress on the recommendations in its motorcycle safety report Easy Rider. It also questions the Deputy Mayor for Transport about the ‘pauses’ in upgrade projects for the Jubilee and Northern Lines. The guests are:

The Environment Committee is investigating waste management in London in a series of 3 meetings. In this second meeting, the focus is on household recycling collections.

GLA Annual Service of Remembrance

The Chamber, City Hall – 10:40-11:40am



The GLA Annual Service of Remembrance commemorates the members and officers of London Government organisations, who died on active service in the two World Wars and other conflicts. The Dean of Southwark Cathedral, The Very Revd Andrew Nunn will lead the Service and the Address will be given by the Archbishop of Southwark, The Most Revd Peter Smith. The London Assembly and the Mayor of London will be joined by senior representatives of London organisations, including the Metropolitan Police Service, Transport for London and the London Fire Brigade, as well as members of the Royal British Legion, Armed Forces and Reserves.
