In response to the Mayor’s London Knife Crime Summit held this week, Steve O’Connell AM, Chairman of the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee, said:

“Knife crime continues to surge in London and the murder rate has hit 78, so far, this year.

“Whilst I welcome the Mayor’s efforts in bringing together of community groups and representatives from the boroughs at the knife crime summit, Londoners want practical action taken to stop the scourge of violent crime sweeping the capital.

“London is getting a depressing reputation for lawlessness and the buck stops with the Mayor.”
