This meeting took place on 25 March 2014. Read the transcript here.
Would greater competition in the house building industry increase the number of homes built in London?
Currently the largest house builders complete around 70 per cent of total house building in the UK.
The London Assembly’s Housing Committee will tomorrow examine the current house building market in the capital and look at the barriers for new and smaller builders to enter the market. The Committee will also ask what the Mayor and others could do to encourage diversity in the sector.
The following guests will be questioned,
- Paul Rayment, Senior Surveyor, Affleck Property Services and Member of the Federation of Master Builders
- Sarah Monk, Deputy Director, Cambridge Centre for Housing and Planning Research, University of Cambridge
- Tim Craine, Director, Molior
- Stephen Hill, UK co-housing network
- David Lunts, Executive Director Housing and Land, Greater London Authority
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 25 March from 10.00am in Committee Room 5 at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
Media and members of the public are invited to attend. The meeting can also be viewed via webcast.
