The membership of the Board of the new London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) has been agreed, it was announced today.
The LLDC is a mayoral development corporation, created using powers given to the Mayor of London in the Localism Act 2011, and its purpose will be to manage the ongoing regeneration and development of the Olympic Park and surrounding areas of east London.
The LLDC opens for business on 1st April 2012, with its first Board meeting held on 2nd April. It will continue the work of the Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) and will also inherit some of the assets and projects of the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation.
It will have greater powers than the OPLC, including planning powers, which will extend its influence beyond its own landholdings in the Olympic Park into the fringe areas around the Park. It will be directly accountable to Londoners through the office of the Mayor of London.
In accordance with Schedule 21 to the Localism Act, the Mayor has approved the following appointments: - Baroness Margaret Ford of Cunninghame, as Chair of the Corporation, and Elizabeth McMahon, until 31 October 2012, following agreement that they will serve until the end of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. - Robert John and Philip Lewis, until 15 December 2012, and David Edmonds, David Gregson, Keith Edelman & Lord Andrew Mawson of Bromley-by-Bow, until 15 December 2013.
These appointments are made until the dates on which their appointments to the OPLC board were due to expire.- Mayor of Hackney, Jules Pipe, Mayor of Newham, Sir Robin Wales, Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman and the Leader of Waltham Forest, Councillor Chris Robbins, all until 1 May 2014, which is the date of the next local government elections in London, or earlier if any ceases to be an elected member of their respective local authority or if the Mayor is notified that the local authority would like to nominate someone else.- Sonita Alleyne, Nicholas Bitel, Nicky Dunn, Jayne McGivern and Sir Edward Lister for a period of three years until 31 March 2015.

- Sonita Alleyne founded the radio company Somethin' Else and ran it as Chief Executive from 1991 until 2009, when she joined the board and served as a non-executive director until 2011.
Sonita currently holds a number of non-executive posts, including with the Archant media group and the British Board of Film Classification, and has a wide range of previous board experience, including with the London Skills and Employment Board and as Chair of the Radio Sector Skills Council.
Sonita was also a non-executive director of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport at the time London's bid for the 2012 Games was being put together. She was brought up in east London and has chosen it as her professional base since. Sonita won the Carlton Multicultural Achievement Award for TV and Radio in 2002 and is a Fellow of The Royal Society of the Arts and the Radio Academy.
She was awarded an OBE for services to broadcasting in November 2003.- Nicky Dunn began her career in venue management when she joined London Arena in 1988.
She held various positions during her 12 years at the venue. Nicky moved from London to Belfast in 2000 to over-see the fit-out, pre-opening and launch of the Odyssey Arena. She remained in Belfast as the Arena Chief Executive until 2010.
Odyssey Arena became internationally recognised as one of the top 10 busiest Arenas world wide. Nicky received an award of Distinction for Contribution to Business in Northern Ireland and another for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism. She is now based in London where she has established IMD Group, consultants to the leisure industry.
Nicky remains on two boards in Northern Ireland: Titanic Foundation and the Lyric Theatre. She was a board member of The Princes Trust (NI) from 2007 - 20011.- Jane McGivern is an experienced CEO in the property industry, specialising in the creation and delivery of high value mixed use and regeneration schemes of national importance.
Her former roles include as CEO (Europe) of Multiplex plc, and managing director of Anschutz Entertainment Group in London, during its acquisition and redevelopment for the O2 (formally the Millennium Dome). She currently runs Red Grouse, her small private property investment vehicle.
