Liberal Democrats on the Metropolitan Police Authority have continually called on the Metropolitan Police to improve its public consultation on plans for the future of the police stations in London. Are you satisfied with the way in which the Metropolitan Police is conducting these borough consultations, especially in light of sums of money paid to consultants to assist them in doing so?

Signalised cycle crossing

A new cycle crossing scheme, which included a dedicated phase for southbound cyclists, was introduced at the Old Street/Bath Street junction on LCN+ route 0 at the end of 2006. However, this signal has still not been switched on. Is this delay to the introduction of cycle signals on the LCN+ typical? Is the LCN+ route 0 still being progressed? If so, by when is it likely to be completed?

Substandard pedestrian crossing

Do the pedestrian signals on the crossing between St. Thomas' Hospital and the old County Hall meet the latest national standards, as set by the Department for Transport? If not, given the likelihood that many of those using this crossing to access the hospital will have reduced mobility, will you make lengthening the time for pedestrians to cross here a priority?

Cycle ban

Are you concerned about proposals to ban the possession of cycles, including wheeling or carrying a bike, in the vicinity of St Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London under a 1960s by-law? Will representations be made to seek to reverse these proposals, if necessary by asking the Secretary of State to amend the by-laws?
