A constituent from Hackney asked me to table the following question: 'The Co-op has recently introduced a scheme for young motorists where a smartbox is fitted to their car which monitors acceleration and braking. The insurance company then calculates insurance premiums based on how customers drive. Having suffered a recent alarmingly irresponsible drive in mini cab, it occurred to me that these boxes should be fitted to all licensed minicabs to encourage more responsible and safer driving. ' 'Would the Mayor consider insisting that all minicabs in London are required to have insurance premiums determined by monitored driving standards?'
