You will know that Transport for London has a proposed traffic safety scheme for Godstone Road, Kenley - a road where a 14-year old boy was involved in a non-fatal accident. Learning from the riots

  • Reference: 2012/2040
  • Question by: Steve O'Connell

The High Street Fund provided a lifeline for already struggling businesses to cope with the damage caused by the riots. However the charity struggled with basic organisational issues, such as adequate staffing, which may have impacted on the speed with which it could help those businesses with the most pressing needs. What are you doing to ensure that organisations like the High Street Fund get up and running quickly and operate effectively should similar disturbances occur again in the future?

Please could you update us on the progress of your 'Skills for Success' scheme? How might my constituents in Croydon and Sutton benefit from the scheme?

The 2012 CBI / Pearson Skills Survey of employers found that Government pledges to reduce the bureaucracy associated with apprenticeships are not yet being felt: 94 per cent of employers reported no change in their experience of measures to reduce apprenticeship bureaucracy. What are you doing to assist the Government and the National Apprenticeship Service in reducing this burden of red tape?

Healthcare in Sutton and Croydon

  • Question by: Steve O'Connell
  • Meeting date: 04 July 2012
Is there an option for the Mayor to take a greater say in the running of healthcare in Sutton and Croydon through a general power of competence, if available, considering the failures of the local hospital trusts and Croydon PCT to balance their account books?
