Will fares rise to pay for the New Bus for London?

Oxford Street

  • Reference: 2012/2892
  • Question by: Stephen Knight

Will you bring forward proposals to pedestrianise Oxford Street?

Police Stations

  • Reference: 2012/2822
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 17 October 2012
Police stations and front counters have an important role to play in the safety of Londoners and constituents have raised concerns with me about potential Police Station closures, for example in Clapham, Hampstead and Streatham. Will you abide by your pre-election commitment that 'no front counter will be closed down before an alternative improved replacement has been opened'?

Undercover officers

  • Reference: 2012/0048-2
  • Question by: Jenny Jones
  • Meeting date: 27 September 2012
Thank you. You have just been talking about supervision, and of course supervision of undercover officers has been a problematic area. Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) did put a report together and made some recommendations. Have those been taken up by the Met?

Peel Centre

  • Reference: 2012/0047-2
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 27 September 2012
I just want to pick up that with the big redevelopment of your training facilities up at Hendon, I was just wondering, there are huge challenges there I think over the next three years. You are going to have to take staff and trainees off that site while it is rebuilt. A very brief update - you might want to send more details in writing - on progress so far. For the Deputy Mayor, do you think you have the relevant staff within your Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime to manage a project on this scale? I am wondering...

Deaths in Custody

  • Reference: 2012/0046-2
  • Question by: Tom Copley
  • Meeting date: 27 September 2012
I wanted to move on to closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in police vans and the issue of deaths in police custody. Of course, I am sure all of us here will welcome the inquiry into deaths in police custody. Deputy Commissioner, could you tell us what the timeline is for this review?

Front Counters

  • Reference: 2012/0045-2
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 27 September 2012
Thank you. I want to move on to looking at some of the police estate issues. Craig, you were going to talk about that earlier. I wonder from this initial dialogue you have been having, though maybe I would call it mood music rather than perhaps dialogue, what are the common issues that are coming up so far particularly relating to front counters?

Borough Command Units

  • Reference: 2012/0044-2
  • Question by: Jennette Arnold OBE
  • Meeting date: 27 September 2012
Deputy, we know that a letter has gone from the Commissioner [Bernard Hogan-Howe] to local authorities with a document attached that sets out proposals about how savings might be made, including looking at management costs, supervision ratios and a number of areas. It also sets out a new model in policing terms and makes reference to a basic command unit which will vary in size and shape. Are you able to just help us with your definition about what a basic command unit is?

Privitisation

  • Reference: 2012/0043-2
  • Question by: Len Duvall OBE
  • Meeting date: 19 July 2012
Can we just look at learning lessons and really I suppose the aspect of privatisation, which is another side of policing activities in terms of what has happened with some of your neighbouring services. I really have two questions to you both, but if I can begin with the Commissioner. On a webcast on 21 June, I think you have a fairly fixed view about privatisation, about the limits of it, where to put it within the police activities and where not. Do you describe core activities ... you do not really see privatisation doing patrolling, issues of police investigations...
