Housing - Sutton Tramlink Extension

  • Reference: 2014/5083
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
Given that your Further Alterations to the London Plan seeks to encourage outer London boroughs to increase the amount of housing in town centres through higher densities, will you provide the necessary infrastructure for boroughs by supporting schemes such as the proposal to extend the tram to Sutton via Morden?

Sutton Life Science Cluster - Tramlink Extension

  • Reference: 2014/5082
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
The Chancellor's Autumn Statement has recognised the importance of supporting economic growth through investment in transport infrastructure and in particular has supported creating a link between some of the country's most important scientific and technical centres of excellence by investing in rail links to the Cambridge Science Park and looking into an Oxford Cambridge expressway. Will you provide similar support to Sutton's ambitions for a Life Science Cluster with the Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute for Cancer Research by supporting the Borough's campaign for a Tramlink extension which would link into the Life Science Cluster site in the long term?

TfL fare changes (1)

  • Reference: 2014/5078
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
While I welcome the changes to TfL's fare structure which will help part-time workers, I am concerned that passengers who occasionally travel to central London from Zones 4-6 will be hit by significant increases in fares. The scrapping of the Off-Peak cap will lead to thousands of people paying more - will you review the proposals to give a fairer deal to these passengers?

Wembley stations closure during international football match - 23 November

  • Reference: 2014/5077
  • Question by: Caroline Pidgeon
  • Meeting date: 17 December 2014
While I am aware that TfL planned closures of the Jubilee and Metropolitan Lines months in advance, the date for the women's international friendly was set in August, giving ample time to review the situation. On the day, signalling failures led to the closure of Wembley Central, leaving no Underground station open and only one mainline station open, causing chaos for many fans. Will you look into this incident, and provide further information explaining why the planned closures were not reviewed and how this will be improved in the future?

I have received complaints from constituents of significant overcrowding at Finsbury Park station, with commuters being advised to take buses instead. What is TfL doing to tackle this overcrowding, and to ease the situation for already hard-pressed passengers?
