Unregistered vehicles involved in collisions (3)

  • Reference: 2025/0873
  • Question by: Caroline Russell
  • Meeting date: 20 March 2025
Thank you for your answer to my questions 2024/4040 and 2025/0275 about the lack of information on the number of vehicles registered and unregistered with the DVLA involved in collisions. Unregistered vehicles are unlikely to have insurance and more likely to be involved in hit and run collisions impacting on Vision Zero outcomes. Transport for London (TfL) and the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) routinely check vehicle number plates with the DVLA database. Why is this not happening in the case of unregistered vehicles involved in collisions?

Will you ask your London Plan team to meet with myself and Inclusion...
