Local Transport Challenges Impacting Schools and College in Hounslow

  • Reference: 2025/1488
  • Question by: Gareth Roberts
  • Meeting date: 22 May 2025
Head teachers in Hounslow have expressed to me their concerns about persistent overcrowding of both the H91, H11 and 120 bus service which presents critical health and safety, as well as safeguarding issues. After school hours, buses are consistently overcrowded, resulting in students waiting for extended periods, often exceeding 45 minutes, to access transport. This delay becomes particularly concerning during the darker evenings, with parents frequently contacting schools in distress regarding the whereabouts of their children. Several bus routes - 237, 267, 235, H28 – are coming through Busch Corner. These are used by students travelling in all directions away...

He should provide details of this work to the Committee by 31 August 2024.” you highlighted that between 2021 and 2024, the Mayor allocated £9m to the VRU’s flagship MyEnds programme. Summer Streets Pilot

  • Reference: 2025/1480
  • Question by: Neil Garratt
  • Meeting date: 22 May 2025
On 12th May you announced a £300,000 "Summer Streets" pilot project to boost al fresco dining in London funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Your announcement acknowledges that this is a pilot, as £300,000 is too little to make an impact across the whole city. Could you detail how this pilot programme will be evaluated? Will there be a report on findings, and when will this be published? What metrics will the pilot use to evaluate success? And will there be control areas to measure the project areas against?
