EIR - London Atmospheric Emissions Inventory data

Key information

Request reference number: FOI - 6130

Summary of request

Attached are two documents (being an example of one of the twelve sites sampled in total), with the png being a map of the Euston Rd. (near KX/Euston stations), where I grouped pollutant levels via their deviation from the average from all sites. The word doc has a couple of graphs where I tried to find a pattern of pollution between different categories of sites – e.g. bus stops and traffic calming measures, along with the raw data for that particular localicy. The atmospheric emissions inventory looks very useful, I will attempt to compare these levels with the data that I collected. After looking at this data I do have a couple of specific questions:

  1. It’s interesting that the GLA has chosen to separate pollution data between roadside/background. What are the definitions of both types, and how is this data separated?
  2. Where is the original of the mean data, I notice that there are hardly any incidences of pollution levels going above the 1-3 Low index. The DEFRA DAQI does define each AQI.
  3. Is there one particular element of pollution that you believe will increase in importance going into the future?
  4. Similarly which way can you see resuspended road dust going in the future, e.g. using electric vehicles might reduce some pollution elements, but potentially not road dust as much.
  5. What policies, to be implemented by the mayor, will have the greatest impact on curtailing both emissions?
    1. Same, but for exposure?
