The Police and Crime Plan sets out MOPAC's strategy for policing and crime reduction in London over the next four years.
This is London's first Police and Crime Plan - and sets out what Londoners can expect from the police and MOPAC to make the city safer, with strategies and clear targets to prevent crime, seek swift and sure justice for victims, and to cut reoffending.
London is a safe city and it is getting safer. However, we all want to see crime fall even further, with no neighbourhood being left behind. This Plan will strengthen the Met by recruiting 5,000 new constables over the next three years and boosting neighbourhood policing to make the police more visible, accountable and accessible.
The Mayor of London is required to consult Londoners about his proposals, and an extensive consultation process, including town hall meetings in all 32 boroughs, was undertaken on the draft plan between January and March 2013. In addition, over two hundred written responses were received and additional stakeholder forums, focus groups and a large online survey were conducted.
