Fr. Murphy’s Camogie & Ladies Gaelic Football Club

For the past seven years the girls of Fr. Murphy’s have carried the flags of all the counties and provinces of Ireland at the head of the parade, in their very colourful jerseys designed specially for the event . Due to the pandemic there will be no parade as we know it, so the girls have come up with another idea, a virtual 5k Run/Walk, where up to 80 girls will participate, both players and former players, mainly in London but also in Ireland, U.S.A and Australia. This to be completed by March 21st 2021.

The main purpose of this is to raise funds in support of NHS workers, Doctors, nurses etc, we have a number of these in the club, the proceeds will go to cover their 2021 professional registration fees, it is our way of saying thanks to them for their unselfish commitment to the welfare of others.

Feith an Cheoil – Fiddler of London competition

The Fiddler of London 2021 - a tribute to the late Justin Whelehan, is a prestigious title that will be awarded to an outstanding musician.

Running on Saturday 13th March at 7pm.

The Fiddler of London will be officially appointed as “The Fiddler in residence for the Irish Community” for the year. There was a previous Fiddler of London competition at Hammersmith Town Hall (late 1970’s) that as a young child Eilish Byrne-Whelehan (founder of Feith an Cheoil) attended with her parents. She was too young to take part, but remembers the Judge being the famous fiddle player, Sean Maguire. This made a lasting impression and inspired her to go on and win five All -Ireland titles. The Fiddler of London will likewise encourage many young musicians from far and wide to take part. Also giving fiddle players a competition of their own to celebrate their achievements and showcase their talent to the world.

The Gala Final will be shown on The Fiddler of London’s YouTube Channel.
