Counter Terrorism & Counter Extremism (CT & CE) Oversights and Reviews Officer

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) are seeking to recruit into the role of Oversight and Reviews Officer. This post sits within MOPAC’s Countering Terrorism and Countering Extremism Hub team who support the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime on all matters relating to extremism, radicalisation and terrorism. This includes; but is not limited to, formal and informal oversight of work in London which ranges from protecting people vulnerable to radicalisation through to protective security and preparedness activity.

The Oversight and Reviews Officer will assist MOPAC’s Head of Hub on related policy matters alongside assistance with all relevant reviews, legislative changes and academic insight. The post holder will also be responsible for administering several policy area related boards and set-piece meetings, including those attended by very senior internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Well versed in the current key threats and key priorities in challenging extremism and terrorism.
  • Have a familiarity with current government policy and legislation around countering terrorism and extremism.
  • Have a proven ability to communicate, build relationships, influence and negotiate with prospective providers, stakeholders and partners.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Have an ability to articulate succinctly key elements of reports, reviews or legislative developments.
  • Have excellent organisational skills.

The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) is the organisation through which the Mayor of London exercises his role as the Police and Crime Commissioner for London and is led by the Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime. MOPAC undertakes a broad range of statutory duties and works closely with the Mayor of London, Deputy Mayor and Metropolitan Police Service to deliver the priorities that will create safer London communities.
