Mayor's Resilience Fund: Supporting innovation in resilience
The Mayor's Resilience Fund is the Mayor Sadiq Khan’s £1m innovation programme to support London’s businesses and community groups in their recovery from the coronavirus crisis, and to ensure they’re better prepared for future emergencies.
Working with the London Economic Action Partnership (LEAP), the fund will support the designing and testing of innovations with grants of up to £30,000, that enable:
- the creation of tools to help London’s economy emerge from the current crisis, and fare better during future stresses and shocks
- London’s community of small businesses and community organisations to adapt, diversify and deliver services in new ways, while boosting their levels of preparedness, awareness, skills and capacity
- positive social change that addresses London’s major stresses – from inequality and food insecurity to poor health and wellbeing
The first round of applications will open in September 2020
Who can apply?
Businesses, social enterprises and community groups will be matched with innovators who will help them find new ways of delivering their products and services.
This will help them keep up with the accelerated pace of change after the pandemic and to improve their own resilience to future shocks.
Grants of up to £30,000 will be available to support designing and testing these innovations.
The Fund is open to a broad range of public, private and third-sector organisations in London that are looking for solutions to the challenges they are experiencing and who are set to benefit from the innovations.
These include:
- London boroughs
- sub-regional partnerships
- town teams and business improvement districts
- workspace providers
- community groups
- social enterprises
- small and medium-sized enterprises
- charities
What will we be funding?
We want to fund a range of projects which will help London’s small businesses and civic society emerge from the current crisis stronger and more resilient.
This list is not exhaustive, and projects may deliver on one or more of the following actions, but they could help to:
- boost supply chain resilience
- build businesses operational resilience
- tackle inequality
- address food insecurity
- improve health and wellbeing
- improve air quality and tackle climate change
Examples of innovations that could receive support from the fund range from new forms of data capture and digital infrastructure (for example to support the operational resilience of businesses) to ways of using data and technology to identify and address vulnerabilities in supply chains, local food or energy production.
The first round of applications opens in September.
