City Hall warns those wanting to enjoy London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks to avoid online ticket scams

After a wonderful weekend of Bonfire Night firework displays across the capital, City Hall is warning those wanting to attend London’s New Year’s Eve spectacular fireworks to only buy tickets through the official ticket partner.

Over the last few days, Londoners of all ages have been enjoying Bonfire Night displays across the city, but attention is now turning to the capital’s most famous fireworks display and largest display in the UK – the Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks.

Limited tickets for the world-renowned event are currently available at https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/london-nye/, and there will be a final release of official tickets later this month. However, in recent years there has been an increase in fake tickets sold online with people being incredibly disappointed as they are turned away on the night. Rogue websites are once again promising tickets for this year’s event at over-inflated prices.

City Hall is warning that only tickets bought from the authorised outlet Ticketmaster will be accepted and that anyone who has bought a ticket from anywhere else will not be allowed entry.

London’s most famous fireworks display will see around 100,000 Londoners and visitors unite along the banks of the River Thames to welcome in the new year. The eyes of the world will be watching as thousands of fireworks and hundreds of lights help to illuminate the night sky around the London Eye, all set to a wide-ranging soundtrack that celebrates 2025 and looks ahead to 2026.

The annual showstopper is watched by many millions around the world and is an incredible global advert for our capital and tourism industry, with ticketholders alone generating more than £14m of additional revenue for London’s businesses and economy*.

This year ticket prices for Londoners remain at £20 and £35 depending on the viewing area. Tickets for people who live outside the capital will be £40 and £55.

There will also be an opportunity to donate to TAP London, a charity dedicated to supporting Londoners experiencing homelessness.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “It’s been a spectacular weekend across our capital as Londoners of all ages have united to see the night sky lit up to celebrate Bonfire Night. As Londoners and visitors start to think about their plans for New Year’s Eve, we are reminding anyone wanting to enjoy our spectacular celebrations that you must buy a ticket from our authorised outlet. Each year disappointed people are turned away at the gates after unwittingly spending huge sums on fake tickets, so it’s important that people are aware of this threat. Our fireworks celebrations are the best in the world and there is no better way to welcome in the new year than by uniting with Londoners and visitors on the banks of the River Thames.”

Chief Superintendent Amanda Wolf from the National Lead Force for fraud, City of London Police, said: “The London New Year’s Eve fireworks are a spectacle to behold that brings everyone together every year and there’s no doubt this is a consistently high-in-demand event that always ends up sold-out. Unfortunately, fraudsters will take advantage of the hype and target those looking for last minute tickets.

“Protect yourself online from ticket fraud, make sure you stop and check where you’re buying them first. Only purchase tickets from the official partner site, Ticketmaster, including resales. Avoid offers or deals of tickets on social media or online marketplaces - these are likely to be fake, especially if you’re requested to pay via bank transfer. Follow Stop! Think Fraud advice for more tips on how to protect yourself.”

Rose Wangen-Jones, Managing Director at Visit London said: “London has one of the biggest and best New Year’s Eve celebrations: we see visitors travel from around the world to be a part of the annual tradition. In addition to the fireworks, visitors and Londoners can make the most of the big night by booking one of many parties, river cruises, shows and dinners across the capital. The festivities continue through to the next day with the London New Year’s Day parade - making it an excellent time to visit London as the city comes together in celebration.”

Robin Goodchild, Senior General Manager of the London Eye, said: “London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks are celebrated worldwide, and we’re proud that the London Eye once again takes centre stage as the icon of the city’s skyline. Working with the Mayor of London, we’re honoured that this spectacular event unites Londoners and captivates global audiences. As we conclude the Eye’s 25th anniversary, a spectacular display of colour, light, and storytelling will illuminate the Thames—welcoming 2026 from the heart of this incredible city.”
