How resilient is London to major risks?
The Greater London Authority’s (GLA) London Resilience Unit (LRU) updated its London Resilience Strategy in February 2025,1 setting out a vision for resilience in London with 10 ‘Guiding principles’ and seven ‘Strategic priorities’.
London faces particular risks over upcoming summer months. Both surface water flooding and heatwaves are rated as medium likelihood but high impact on the Risk Register. London has experienced these events in recent years.
The GLA Oversight Committee will meet tomorrow to receive an update the work of the London Resilience Unit and partnership bodies in preparation for the summer, and to scrutinise how London is preparing for any major risks the city faces.
The Committee will also look into the GLA’s savings and efficiencies programme,
