Organisation aims / mission / values
- To reach disadvantaged communities through art
- To use art to bring about social change
- To reduce social isolation, provide opportunities for community cohesion, new skills, and improved mental health and well-being
- To create high-quality arts activities that are embedded in the local community
How we deliver these aimsWe work alongside partner organisations such as homeless shelters, women's refuges, care homes, probation services and other community hubs to run arts activities that are designed to build community, increase skills and improve mental health and well-being. Over the last year we have reached over 3000 beneficiaries, reaching people in times of great chaos and crisis and providing safe spaces for reflection, expression and redirection. With one participant SP, who attended a poetry project in a Hestia women's refuge, we were able to witness huge change. From not engaging with services, feeling afraid and battling negative thoughts to performing poems, gaining huge self-confidence and able to access support SP said 'Writerz and Scribez sessions allowed me the opportunity to find my voice again. To regain my strength and refocus myself. And they did this through fun, inspiring and engaging sessions."
