Background

The challenge

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already changing how Londoners work. It's used in hiring decisions, in everyday tasks and in the skills employers are looking for.

AI has the potential to boost productivity and create new job opportunities. Without a plan for London, these benefits will not be available for everyone.

The Mayor of London wants to make sure that AI benefits all Londoners. That means:

  • Investigating what’s happening in our capital right now, and
  • Taking action to support Londoners through the changes ahead.

Our approach

The Mayor has established an AI and Jobs Taskforce. This Taskforce is looking into how AI is affecting London's job market right now. This will help make sure the city's response puts Londoners first.

The Taskforce is looking to understand:

  • Where the impacts are greatest,
  • Where the opportunities lie,
  • What the Mayor and partners can do to help.

It will deliver a set of practical recommendations later this year.

How you can make a difference

The Taskforce's work will only be as strong as the voices that shape it, and that includes yours.

This survey asks about your experience of AI at work and in daily life. Your answers will feed into the Taskforce's findings. This will help the Mayor take action that reflects what Londoners are experiencing.

About the Taskforce

The Mayor of London has set up a team of experts to look at how AI is changing work in London, and what he should do about it. It is chaired by Martha Lane Fox, and includes:

  • Trade unionists,
  • Business leaders, and
  • AI specialists.

The Taskforce will report back to the Mayor this summer on how to support Londoners with AI.
