Free tap water with Refill London

Excellent idea - refill points are very much needed. An app is good - and we need more:
Everyone who works, lives and plays in London should have access to healthy hydration. Public water fountains are a key way of doing this, they provide visibility and accessibility to help make a #refillrevolution reality.

I agree with the earlier comment that single-use plastic bottled water costs unnecessary money (for individuals to buy and councils to clear up), causes massive environmental damage and will help tackle dehydration & obesity.

Having refill fountains at transport hubs would give millions of people every day access to water, regardless of age, ability, language, phone-technology, etc - and would be a lasting public legacy. www.waterforlondon.org are asking for this

Excellent idea - refill points should be installed at every public transport hub - tube, train & bus stations so that everyone has a clear place where they can refill their bottle on the go.

The initiative needs to be rolled out quickly so that all Londoners are served and refill becomes the norm in London - then everyone will carry refillable bottles as they will know there will be a clear place to refill their bottle and not have to purchase single-use plastic which costs unnecessary money (for individuals & councils to clear up), causes massive environmental damage and will help tackle dehydration & obesity.

While this is a great scheme to implement quickly and with minimal cost. It would be great if residents, and visitors, of all ages and backgrounds could find water refill points at all of London transport stations; tube, bus, train, boat & tram, for the following reasons;

Not everyone has a smart phone, or data to use it while out and about if visiting from abroad
People need to know the app exists
Not everyone feels comfortable asking for water without buying something
The businesses can withdraw the offer of water at any time
Queuing to fill up water with other paying customers may be off putting
Asking for water requires a good grasp of English, excluding many tourists
Not all these businesses will be accessible to those with disabilities, for example wheelchair users or learning disabilities
The transport network is well known to residents and well used by tourists

It's great that Network Rail have announced they will be implementing water refill points at all of their stations. Starting with a trial at Charing Cross in the next few weeks. Hopefully this will be a template for the rest of the transport network.

when weather is hot, the water fountains would be useful ti get a drink from.

This is a good scheme,
I had not heard about it but I was aware that food outlets have to provide free tapwater, this scheme publicises that and makes it obvious which venues will be cooperative. (and those venues will be favourably viewed by potential customers)
