I tend to buy most of my food in supermarkets or smaller versions of them. Very occasionally, I buy from independent butchers and grocers but this is very rare as they are more expensive. There are a lot of cafes and takeaways in my area but less restaurants in walking distance. However, there are quite a few in Wimbledon which is only a short bus journey away. There are plenty of chain restaurants and a few nice independent ones in the village. My favourite local independent restaurant in Earlsfield called Hannah's closed down a few years ago and turned into ANOTHER estate agent. It worries me that this will happen to a lot more places.
I use Waitrose for basics but love to go to proper food shops e.g borough market, meat from the quality chop house, fish from moxons in Islington. Also love the peoples super market in lambs conduit street.

Local shops in Battersea - good greengrocer and a great Turkish/organic shop/deli. Borough Wines in Battersea, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s local, corner shop. Trying to massively cut down on plastics which the local shops are good for.

We use Balham and Brixton Farmers' Markets. Excellent fruit, veg, milk, eggs, cheese, game, meat and poultry. Much better quality and value than any supermarket.

A local butcher for meat and found a fruit & veg store a good 20 mins walk away for I can stretch my legs too. Supermarket fruit is very disappointing.

An icredibily convenient option, especially as I do not own a car; I have tried tugging a bunch of carrier bags from a larger supermarkets on a bus and vowed not to make this mistake again. Sometimes I pop into a local shop if I need only a few items.
Mainly Supermarkets. Far too much packaging, fruit and veg can be bought loose, as can nuts. Need a local market 3 days a week to really make a difference.

Unfortuntely, most shops have now disappeared from Orpngton High Street many having been taken over by restaurants. There are so many of them I cannot see how they can all survive. The 'shopping expereince' no longer exists in Orpington because there are only a handful of shops left. Tragic.

I dislike supermarkets & their disingenuous eco claims! I would love regular local markets selling whole foods, organic produce & locally-source fresh veggies, cheese etc. Borough Market is too far for me to travel and I can’t afford their sort of prices! Archway is now going to have an M&S Food so sadly there’ll be more expensive pre-packaged junk food! Oh for the 50s and 60s when my mother would send me to the local dairy for fresh bread and butter served from a huge bowl with a wooden pat . . . x

We buy quite a large amount of food delivered by Morrisons. Fortunately we live near 'The best high street in London' Pitshanger Lane where we have a good butcher, good fishmonger, good greengrocer, a good baker as well as an assortment of other useful shops. So any things we need over and above the basics, we buy there.

We do a bit of everything. A veg box delivered every two weeks, the meat from the local butcher, and then shopping delivered from the supermarket evert fortnight or so, all topped up with trips to Sainsbury's local for milk etc. I think there's still way too much packaging on food, but generally, we should think ourselves lucky. The range of food on offer and the generally low prices aren't at all bad. I'm 'only' 40 so I'm not that old. There is no way when I was young I was eating the range of food that my three-year-old daughter does now (avocado, olives, houmus etc.).
I mainly buy from supermarkets but am appalled at the amount of packaging especially plastic. I have an allotment so also produce a lot of my own vegetables, a local sharing scheme would be great in times of glut.

He brings the fruit in from Kent I think and it is cheaper than supermarkets. Waitrose has excellent cherries from Kent at the moment large and tasty. My local food shop even has sweet lemons from Iran as a delicious alternative fruit. Look around in London and you will be surprised at what you can find. I live in Ealing.

I do sometimes buy fresh fruit and veg from a local shop (0.4 km) and from Penge Food Centre (0.3 km) who do very cheap mediterranean food. Lidl are cheap and the food is good, but the choice is limited. I shop most days in small quantities. I avoid Tesco's when I can (the nearest is about 6 km away) but their quality is ok and prices lower than Sainsbury's but higher than Lidl.

The local shops and restuarants in Northolt are not great for vegans/vegetarians
