I sometimes like to try new venues but now that train timetables have stopped a lot of the later trains I might have to re-assess which areas I  go in case I am unable toget back after midnight.... and my area is probably  better than a lot of areas in the Gtr London area.  There are plenty newsletters from ticket agencies etc, band websites and Time Out is pretty good too.  I also get newsletters from some venues direct.  I didn't realise quite how many until receiving loads of emails re the new privacy laws!

Time Out when it carried listings was invalauble but the paper version is useless and the TO website is nothing like so comprehensive and is riddled with advertising..

The List in the Saturday Guardian is the best I know, but I wish we could have something like Pariscope which is inexpensive, reliable and very thorough.

I'm on a number of mailing lists from arts venues, and find out a lot from those.  Otherwise it is normally Time Out or the Standard, or sometimes The Times.  It's pretty rare that I feel I've missed out.

Facebook seems to be a one-stop shop for cultural events these days. I get messages, I see where other friends are going, I get the emails from the ticket companies and I read Time Out. I also look at Londonist.com. And I get emails from my favorite venues. I usually miss some events because it's difficult to keep track of everything, but I'm usually OK.

i suggest a london wide online directory of free events including charity/community events, live music including open mics etc which organisers can publicise in (via registration) and public can view by event type, date, location etc

There is so much going on it's hard to keep track of it all. I'm on a lot of mailing lists but I don't always manage to go through them in a timely manner.

I tend to rely on the poster and advertisements on the Tube network for event information. I pick up the copy of Timeout at times to get information about interesting event around the city.

I subscribe to a lot of individual mailing lists, but Twitter is also a good source. I find Time Out useful too, word of mouth and posters on the tube.

For exhibitions in galleries and museums I usually have a look on the website www.artexhibitionslondon.org - very comprehensive list of what is going on in the City.

Facebook, email newsletters, libraries, word of mouth.

Hyperlocal websites in my area such as Palmers Green Community and Alexandra Park Neighbours. Quirky newsletters such as Ian Visits.
