  • Primary healthcare – the Well Centre

    Description

    The Well Centre is a free and confidential primary care service for 11-21 year olds in Lambeth and Wandsworth. The core elements of the Well Centre are that it is General Practitioner (GP) led, youth friendly and responsive to young people’s needs. The process evaluation was funded as part of the VRU's Local Authority Research & Evaluation Fund.

    Description

    Project 10/10 works with young people using an authentic youth-led approach and a peer-referral outreach model of delivery. This VRU funded report was delivered by a consortium led by Camden & Islington NHS Trust and provides insight and learning into community-based crisis intervention and trauma support for young people through the lens of the 10/10 project.
  • Rise Up - Youth Leadership Programme

    Description

    'Rise Up' is a leadership development programme for London based youth practitioners building skills, confidence, and experience to better support vulnerable young people in London. This final evaluation report explores process and impact across the first three years of the programme, 2020-23.

    This research, conducted by Loughborough University, examined how sports programmes can play a role in mitigating young Londoners’ experiences of violence and it’s impacts.
  • Strengthening Fathers

    Description

    The Strengthening Fathers Programme (SFP) aims to support male caregivers and fathers to strengthen their relationships with their children and families. Delivery focuses on bespoke, holistic and trauma-informed approaches which aim to instil positive and healthy co-parenting skills. The VRU have commissioned Alma Economics to lead a process and impact evaluation of the SFP pilot.

    Description

    Stronger Futures is a targeted funding programme manged by Rocket Science and Action for Race Equality. The programme funds community-led groups across 20 projects and 5 boroughs, providing support for children and young people aged 10-18 afterschool and at weekends. This evaluation report explores process learning and outcomes from the first 2 years of the project.

    Description

    The Bambu Project aims to provide trauma-informed, early intervention support for children and young people (CYP) impacted by domestic abuse. It does this through direct one-to-one support and multiagency work, improving the system of support around the child. The process and impact evaluation is carried out by Cordis Bright.

    Acting on concerns highlighted by our Young Person's Action Group, the VRU commissioned University College London to investigate the impact on young people of using knife imagery in social media posts; the research is supplemented by peer-led research on the issue.

    The 'Therapeutic Intervention for Peace' project is a codeveloped and culturally sensitive model of partnership work, aiming to reduce interpersonal youth violence. This End of Programme Report explores process and outcomes and was undertaken by Power The Fight, the primary delivery partner.

    Description

    VRU commissioned Dartington Service Design lab to conduct research mapping trauma-informed and trauma-responsive understanding and practice across London. Linking to the Serious Violence Duty, the research focuses on Local Authorities, the Metropolitan Police Service and Integrated Care Boards. The research will establish a baseline of trauma-informed practice across London from which the VRU can support borough partnerships, cross-sector knowledge exchange and collaboration.
