Organisation aims / mission / values
- We bring people and literature together through our transformative Shared Reading groups, where people can connect with themselves and others in their community.
- We help to change lives by improving well-being, reducing social isolation, and building stronger communities.
- We are building a movement of Readers so that Shared Reading will become so widespread that everyone, whoever and wherever, can access a Shared Reading group.
Shared Reading together
How we deliver these aimsWe work to build the Shared Reading community by equipping Reader Leader volunteers to lead Shared Reading groups in their local area. Volunteers are trained through our flagship Read to Lead training course and receive ongoing support throughout their time leading a group.
Who benefits from our workWe believe that Shared Reading is for everyone and strive to ensure that it is accessible to all members of the community. Which is why we've set up Shared Reading groups in prisons, areas of social isolation, migrant communities, mental health support settings etc. working with local hospitals, GPs, charities, community centres, day centres, and libraries.
