What will I be doing?

  • Happy to get stuck in with play activities, arts and crafts and snack preparation at the after school club, as the session requires, and with offering general academic and pastoral support to KS1KS3 age children.
  • Understanding of and empathetic towards the difficulties faced by children and their parents living in hostel accommodation, as they wait for a suitable home to become available.
  • Help us tidy up after a session has finished.
  • Working as part of a team, supporting the weekly program of play/learning opportunities the Play and Learning Coordinator has created.

What impact will this have?

  • CARIS Families is a small charity which supports homeless families living in temporary accommodation in the London Borough of Camden and more recently London Borough of Hackney.
  • We do this by running a range of frontline children 's services within the hostels to mitigate some of the disadvantages that come with living in overcrowded, insecure accommodation. .
  • These include an after school play club, a homework club, a programme of educational trips and a summer holiday programme. We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us run the After School Clubs.
