What will I be doing?

  • are responsible for the governance and strategic direction of Healthwatch Hackney. The board is made up of people who want to influence and challenge how health and social care services are provided within their locality. The board must reflect the diversity of Hackney and should include young adults, people with disabilities and those from vulnerable and minority backgrounds.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings of the governing board.
  • Uphold the objectives and policies agreed by the board and to contribute to and share responsibility for decisions of the board.
  • Work constructively with other board members and staff.
  • Ensure that HWH complies with its governing document, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.

What impact will this have?

  • Influence and challenge how health and social care services are provided within their locality.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient administration of HWH.
  • Ensure the financial stability of HWH.

Commitment

  • • Approximately 3-4 hours per quarter for board meetings. This includes meeting preparation and pre-readings.
    • Attending the AGM (2 hours).
    • Attending an annual away day (usually held on a Saturday).
    • Positions are voluntary and unpaid but reasonable expenses will be considered as outlined in an agreed remuneration policy.

  • Healthwatch Hackney is Hackney’s health and care watchdog. Our mission is to improve local health and social care services and ensure equitable provision for all local people. Our statutory duties include promoting and supporting local people to get involved in and have their say on the planning, commissioning and scrutiny of local health and care services.

    Healthwatch Hackney (HWH) are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our board of directors.
