Driver - Felix Project

What will I be doing?

• - Driving to and from warehouse with crates of food and meals. -contacting charities and schools etc that crates will be delivered too.
• - loading and unloading vans, with crates of fresh food and produce. -must be physically fit as role can be demanding.
• - meeting charities and seeing first hand how the recipients of food will be benefiting.
• - discovering and exploring new locations around London as well as meeting many new people and potential friends and colleagues.

What impact will this have?

• - the food you will be delivering will be crucial to some families and people who would otherwise go hungry.
• - vital in combating the rising issue of food poverty in London as well as starvation and homelessness in London's poorest borough's.
• - ensures that disadvantaged children and families in London all have access to healthy, nutritious food and vegetables that they would otherwise not be able to provide for themselves.

Commitment

• Morning shift typically : 8:45am-12:45pm. (shifts may vary slightly depending on loading/unloading times and traffic etc.).
• Afternoon shift typically : 12:45pm-4:45pm. (shifts may vary slightly depending on loading/unloading times and traffic etc.).

What else do I need to know?

• Van drivers are allowed to have co-drivers, however due to the current Covid-19 restrictions this must only be a member of your household/support bubble.
• We have strict Covid precautions in place and all volunteers will be briefed accordingly. All volunteers and staff need to wear face coverings at all times. Please bring your own face covering (e.g., scarf, commercial or homemade mask, etc) to each shift. There is a limited supply of PPE which is available in each van, locker and depots if you do not have your own re-usable face covering. Drivers do not need to wear a face covering when they are alone in a van but should put one on when they make a collection or delivery, or if they have a co-driver.

Expenses

• -fuel and parking costs paid
  - In some cases meals/spare food may be provided

Background checks

• No background checks are required

Training

• - volunteers will be given training of how to operate Felix Vans, as well as brief driving instruction and road safety training.
• - all typical lifting and moving training provided, such as how to carry heavy objects without risking injury or harm.
• - Drivers will be given what to do in the case of accident or breakdown training as well as full driver insurance.
