What will I be doing?

  • Listening and learning to be part of a wider team working with other age groups. Listen to and engage with both the young people and their parents.
  • Bringing new ideas and enthusiasm to our activities as well as helping support and encourage the kids in what they are doing now.
  • Learning about Scouting and how we can help you with First Aid, Safety and Leadership training.
  • When settled, being 'invested' as a member of the Scout Association and wearing uniform.
There are always surprises in the countryside!

There are always surprises in the countryside!

What impact will this have?

  • You will be making a huge and positive impact to the life experiences of young boys and girls in significant and lasting ways. Many of our Scouts will value your input in their lives for the rest of their life. You will also help and support the present Leader and her team by being part of our family.
  • Being another reliable person children and parents can share their news and concerns with you will be helping to build the confidence of children and their families and supporting them to more fulfilling lives.
  • Making meetings and outdoor activities safer, better run and more fun.
  • Adding your own personality and skills what we can offer local children.

Commitment

  • Our Cub-Scouts are a great bunch of local boys and girls aged 8-11 and we need a reliable assistant to the Leader.
  • In addition to the Thursday evening meetings of games, handicrafts, basic life skills and an interest in the countryside we would encourage you to help lead activities at week-ends hiking and camping.

What else do I need to know?

  • If in doubt or needing more information contact us and arrange a visit.
  • We follow the National Youth Agency guidelines, and are continually updated by the government. After a year of COVID disruption we have resumed in person (socially distanced) activities in May 2021, and are looking for new Leaders to help us ensure we can keep going!.

Expenses

  • We do not pay expenses for travelling or time as we believe that it best of volunteers are from the local community, however we do reimburse the cost of most Training, Uniform and specialised adventure equipment if used with our young people.

Background checks

  • A DBS check is required
