London's streets are paved with talent

London is full of talent. We want every young musician to have the chance to reach their full potential. Our street performance programmes help do just that. What better way to hone your craft and get your music heard by performing to thousands every day?

Here are some of the ways we're helping them to shine.

Gigs - showcasing the talent of the future

Gigs- Danny Starr

We're helping the next generation of musicians get out there and be heard!

The Mayor's annual young buskers competition, in association with Gibson, turns some of the captial's busiest and most iconiclocations into stages for upcoming musical talent, including, St Paul's Cathedral, major rail stations, Westfield London, London Underground, Wembley Park, Battersea Power Station and Trafalgar Square.

The public can vote for their favourite Gigs performer as they battle it out to reach the Grand Final.

2018 is a big year as it will be the 10th Gigs competition!

As well as showcasing some great young musical talent, we've got some special moments planned to celebrate this milestone. Anyone who's signed up can take part and we'll be sending out more details later in the year.

Busk in London

Busk in London was set up in 2015 by the Mayor of London to help make busking in London as easy as possible by cutting red tape, tackling misconceptions about street performance and encouraging landowners to open up spaces where street performance can take place. We also showcase amazing talent through events such as International Busking Day.

We support young musicians by:

  • Encouraging young musicians to get out there and give busking a go
  • Providing opportunities for performers to develop their skills
  • Giving access to exclusive performance schemes and paid gigs

Stay streets ahead with all our news!
