Londoners in a classroom for the launch of the Multiply Skills programme

Your views on numbers and maths

Updated: 15 August 2024

Thank you to everyone who took part in our discussion last summer and shared how you felt about maths and numbers. Find out more about the Multiply Roadshow with free courses and events running until 15 September 2024.

City Hall’s Skills & Employment team analysed your comments. Many of you highlighted the importance of numeracy skills for your everyday life and work.

Thank you to everyone who has shared your views on maths and numbers as part of City Hall’s Big Number Natter Campaign in May 2023.

Your insights have been incredibly valuable in supporting us to better understand how to talk about numeracy in a way that is more accessible and reflects how Londoners use numeracy in their everyday lives.

How City Hall used your contributions

The team has adapted their communications to encourage Londoners to improve their numeracy skills by emphasising the relevance of numeracy skills to daily life. This insight helped the team to develop and promote the London Multiply Roadshow – a series of free events to help Londoners improve their numeracy skills.

Your comments also inspired the team to produce video case studies from adult education providers to highlight examples of how people have improved their numeracy skills. These videos include personal experiences of adults overcoming their fear of maths and shows the impact that improving numeracy skills has had on their lives.
