Shaping London’s economic future: What you told us

Updated: 23 October 2024

Almost 1,300 of you had your say on London’s economic future. City Hall’s Economic Development team have analysed your survey responses and discussion comments.

On behalf of the London Growth Plan co-ordinating team, I would like to say a huge thank you to the Londoners who took time to complete the Talk London survey…It was important to us as we wanted to hear Londoners voices directly.

What you told us:

While 70% of you feel that London is a good place to work in, only 23% feel that London’s economy is fair. You told us that to make the city fairer we need to prioritise:

  • Affordable and decent housing
  • Good work
  • Opportunities for young people
  • Better and accessible skills and career support
  • Accessible public transport
  • Investment in public spaces
  • Safe streets
  • Preventing racism and hate crimes
The Talk London Survey has been extremely helpful in ensuring that the priorities of Londoners can be made visible… What is concerning is that only 51% are optimistic about London’s future and only 45% feel London is a good place to start a business.

70%

feel London is a good place to work

66%

feel London is a good place to live
