Share your ideas to celebrate Black culture and creativity in London

Integration

Why are you segregating black culture from white? It just emphasises a divide and maintains black with black and white with white. The scheme should encourage different cultures to work together to create marvellous things.

Hi Ann and thank you for sharing your views.

With this new and inclusive event, City Hall wants to put exciting and innovative Black artists, musicians, designers and performers on one of the world’s biggest stages and give them the platform they deserve. London’s Black communities have a huge impact on all aspects of life in our capital, but too often the breath of their cultural and creative contributions have been overlooked and not valued highly enough.

The event will add to the variety of events that City Hall already organises for Londoners in celebration of the capital’s diversity, including Diwali, St George’s Day, Eid, St Patrick’s Day, Chanukah, Pride, Lunar New Year and Vaisakhi, amongst many others. You can find out more about the events on the City Hall website: https://www.london.gov.uk/events

I agree..I do not agree with the notion of celebrating events mounted on a racial or ethnic basis as opposed to national, historical etc. I feel sure the Mayor is not proposing to mount an event to celebrate white culture.
