Sport and meeting people
Does your workplace have any sports teams where you meet with colleagues you wouldn’t usually interact with?
Do you ever take part in any sport or physical activity with the aim of meeting people from different backgrounds? If so, what kind of activities?
For instance, workplaces are often places were people from different backgrounds interact. Does your workplace have any sports teams or encourage physical activity, where you meet with colleagues you wouldn’t usually interact with? Do you take part in these? If not, why not?

Official Representative 6 years agoThanks everyone for sharing your experience.
Would any of you consider joining a local sports club? Or where else might you interact with people from a different background to yourself? Is this easier or more difficult when it's part of some sport activity?

Show full commentIt's a welcome by-product of my main intention which is to get plenty exercise. When I turn up at the leisure centre gym in the morning there's a bunch of people there - a real cross-section of the local Harrow community - who are there mostly every morning & we have become friends through our shared activity.
It works two ways; on a day where you don't feel as motivated to make it to the gym, the fact that this bunch of people will all be there expecting you to arrive gives you the push you need to make the effort & go.

Be it ballroom, latin, ceilí/ceilidhs or cheerleading, they've all got a different vibe and brand new people to meet. This year I've taken up swing dancing and found the community there very welcoming.

Community Member 6 years agoI find sport of any kind utterly boring and a waste of my time. The only physical activity I am interested in is taking my dog out for a walk, I often meet and talk with other people and i have even made some new friends through my dog.

Show full commentWalking is one of the most loveliest ways to experience an area and meet people. People always seem to in a rush to enjoy walking. Yet the idea is to wake a little earlier then usual in order to experences the rewards of walking for at least 20 minute of ones journey. I encounter many smiles as I passby people and that in its own way is very uplifting.

This spells disaster for London..The Picadilly line is outdated & well past its sell by date, which dates back to early 1960s..Rail Infrastrutue across the UK is expensive / unafordable, plus grinding to a halt.. How can anyone be proud to live in a filthy / dirty / polluted city as London!! These are importanr matters / issues that must be addressed with Sadiq Khan, not swept under the carpet !! Business as usual is only for those "fat cat" CEOs, who have their own interests / bonuses at heart, plus greedy airlines who profit from higher air fares, on the misery of travelers / tax paying residents in London !!
