The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) sets priorities for tackling crime and making London safer, and also holds the Metropolitan Police and other criminal justice agencies to account. MOPAC have identified the following priorities:

- Keeping young people safe (e.g. knife crime, gang related crime and serious youth violence, school safety, child sexual exploitation)
- Tackling Violence against women and girls (e.g. protection for victims of domestic violence , action on FGM)
- Standing together against hate, extremism and terror (e.g. reduction in hate crime, preventing extremism, keeping Londoners safe from terrorism)
- Justice that works for London (e.g. better outcomes for victims and communities, reduction in reoffending)
- Neighbourhood policing (e.g visible policing, dedicated neighbourhood officers, increased diversity in police recruitment)

How safe do you feel in London? Do you think crime is a big problem, or not? Do you think the Mayor has identified the right priorities? Are any missing? What are your main priorities for policing and crime in London?

Please note that this isn’t a place to report crimes. Contact the police or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you need to report a crime.

The same group is also perceived to be likely to carry out the attacks and that is why stop and search should continue.

I am very concerned about the increase in the number of Transport Police who carry large machine guns around stations and now I hear it is planned they will be on the Tube.
Far from being re-assured by the presence of armed police, I am intimidated, and I believe arms create an atmosphere of violence and anger, whereas we need calm.
They do nothing to prevent terrorism, as they cannot be everywhere. Placing armed police around London is to be seen to be 'doing something', even though it is totally ineffective.
It costs, too.

I respectfully disagree
I find it slightly reassuring that a decent police presence is around with suitable tools to deal with a terrorist attack.

I believe that MOPAC should play a vital role in monitoring the police services in London when they are recruiting applicants. The way that a recruitment service should be governed and still accountable under MOPAC authority as they are realistically in charge of most other areas such as policies.

Recruitment is not a day to day policing operation and therefore does not remain the commissioners responsibility and this clearly indicates that MOPAC should be Overseeing how recruitment operations are governed and take a key role in the process that takes place.

It has only been a few months and I don't think London could have had a mayor more anti police. I am horrified the use of spit guards isn't allowed to protect our officers from often dangerous people with serious infectious diseases that can easily kill a police officer just doing his/her normal duties. How do we expect the police to do a proper job for us when we can't provide them with very small levels of protection on the job? I commend the sparse police presence for their bravery and think the mayor should be ashamed of himself by going out of the way to protect criminals instead of those who protect us.

Absolutely. The Mayor prefers to give benefits and second changes to criminals than to police officers, to us workers and tax payers
