  • Noise pollution

    • Reference: 2024/1260
    • Question by: Hina Bokhari
    • Meeting date: 23 May 2024
In your answer to 2020/3263, you mention that under regulations, complaints about noise would go to the relevant local authority. However, a lot of the noise pollution from revving cars is made on red routes managed by TfL which the boroughs do not police as this is not their responsibility. This has become a ping pong game between TfL and the boroughs and must end. What options do you have to help tackle the noise pollution caused by revving cars that is keeping many Londoners awake?

    • Meeting date: 23 May 2024
Kentish Town Station was due to re-open this summer after having been closed for over a year. However, reopening was pushed back to September after TfL "identified assets that require essential repair". Were these essential repairs not identified in the initial assessment and redevelopment plan?
  • Fare Evasions

    • Reference: 2024/1266
    • Question by: Hina Bokhari
    • Meeting date: 23 May 2024
Fines for fare evasions recently have gone up, but passengers regularly witness evaders pushing their way through station ticket barriers to avoid paying their fare. It seems to be happening more and more now and the wider gates for passengers with mobility issues, pushchairs or heavy luggage seem especially vulnerable and much easier for people to force open. Is it only the transport police that can intervene in such scenarios or are station staff able to take action as well?

I understand SAIC vehicles were also used by security staff, contracted via Capita, which accompanied the mobile ULEZ camera vans in outer London boroughs. Currently these seem to have been taken off London streets. Has the contract with Capita ended, and, if not, what is the duration of the contract?
