The November 2021, Vision Zero Action Plan Progress Report, from Transport for London (TfL), says TfL will: “Prioritise road safety investment to help reduce the gap in road safety outcomes in areas of high deprivation, inequality and vulnerability.” Please could provide a list of a) road safety projects, b) each of their locations, c) the amount invested and, d) the outcomes.

Thank you for your answer to my question 2024/2083, in which you said: “TfL [Transport for London] is working on a project whereby lifts would automatically generate a notification to LUCC [London Underground Control Centre] when they become unavailable for service. The aim is to reduce the time taken to publish the information for customers.” Disability campaigners have asked if you could have a target for TfL to publish step-free access issues within five minutes of being notified?

Disability equality training for taxi drivers

As Transport for London (TfL) is refreshing its Taxi and Private Hire Vehicles (PHV) Action Plan, will you consider including in it the expectation that all taxi and PHV drivers receive disability and equality training as a condition of licensing?

Thank you for your answer to my question 2024/2085, in which you said: “Bus drivers are provided with separate Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training.” However, disability campaigners have raised concerns with me that disability equality is often diluted within EDI training, that it is not based on the social model of disability, is too short, and nor has it been co-produced with or delivered by a Deaf and Disabled People's Organisation (DDPO). Will you provide bus drivers with specific disability equality training to enable them to fulfil their customer-facing role?

Thank you for your answer to my question 2024/2084, in which you said: “TfL [Transport for London] has a fleet of over 8000 buses, with older buses being replaced with newer vehicles on a rolling weekly basis.” Could you tell me: a) how many older buses TfL expects to replace by 2030 to accommodate more than one wheelchair user, and b) if not all older buses will be replaced by 2030, when do you expect this programme to be completed?

Thank you for your answer to my question 2024/2084, in which you said: “Transport for London (TfL) requires all new two-door buses to have a wheelchair space of 2000mm, meaning a significant increase on the legal minimum of 1300mm. This has been the case since 2018, subject to very minor discretion to ensure we can meet the full range of requirements for new buses.” Could you explain what you mean by a ‘very minor discretion’ and provide examples?

Thank you for your answer to MQ 2024/2073, in which you described the London Plan policies intended to improve the supply of accessible homes. Data collected by the GLA on residential approvals of M4(2) Accessible and adaptable and M4(3) wheelchair user dwellings show boroughs are consistently missing these targets. How do you plan to: a) ensure boroughs improve their accessible housing delivery to comply with targets set out in the London Plan and, b) ensure a high proportion of this accessible housing delivered is for social rent?

Thank you for your answer to MQ 2024/2072, in which you stated only managers in the Housing and Land and London Plan teams receive Disability Equality & Inclusion Workplace training. Could you explain why this training has not been extended to non-managers in these teams, given many people in these teams not classified as managers still have significant responsibilities for developing policies and projects that impact Disabled people’s lives?
